TQIP Manual

The mystery of TQI/TQIP began with a brief mention in the training video I found sometime ago. After that, I found a number of relics (including duplicates), all of which needed to be restored, and with each I found another small piece of the puzzle. But here, I have found the Rosetta Stone.

You can inspect the relics and read the research, as I discovered it, at the links below:

During a site visit I stopped into the area manager (ovens) office in the coal bunker for the first time in a number of months. And what was laying at the top of the junk heap? A binder, in fairly good condition! It was dirty but had little signs of moisture damage. After a dry out over the weekend, I got to scanning Monday morning. The manual is quite long and I only scanned selections (probably less than 20%) but there are some interesting bits amongst the boilerplate. The full PDF of all scanned pages is at the bottom of this post.

This manual was assigned to the area manager (ovens) at the time, Perry Bridgemen. By the time the plant closed in 2001, he had long since vacated this office.
The mission statement as seen in the training video, and as I transcribed it for my first TQI bulletin board. Note the reference at the bottom to a copy ‘suitable for framing’ (see below).

Some specs for coal and coke are given in a section toward the back of the binder:
