Recently I have learned of the joy of census records. As of 2024, 1940 and 1950 are currently available to the public for free. In 2030, 1970 will become available as well. Records prior to 1940 are also available, but you’d have to pay.
But this is fine, because 1940/1950 are a sweet spot for my knowledge of plant personnel. I do not have a concrete timeline for when people held specific titles (super vs. asst. super is a bit line of demarcation) but I do have a solid list of names. So using the census records, I dug up what I could. This includes home address and their job title at that time. I have included some supporting materials as well when I could. This could be considered an extension of the Western States research I did sometime ago. Enjoy!

Roger Nagan
Roger Nagan is the only one who is not a native of Chicago (or Illinois). He was born in Minnesota, where it would seem he took a job at the Interlake Zenith mine, which must have led to an eventual transfer to the coke plant. He grew up at 1411 Hamline Ave. N in St. Paul, but by 1950 he was married and living with his family in Duluth (1113 E. 4th St.).
